Pi not booting

landrover1005

Hello,

I purchased a pi 3 about 2 months ago and I am running the magic mirror software on it.  It has been working great but was constantly getting very hot.  I was heading away for a few days so thought I would unplug it to let it cool down and have a bit of a break from running 24/7.

Now that I have returned and plugged both the power and HDMI into it, the pi will have the pwr indicator light on, but the act indicator is off and the pi will not boot.  Would really like to not have to reinstall raspbian as I have customized the mirror a lot and spent hours on configuring it to my liking.

Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks in advance.

Hunter

Go to https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=437084 . This goes through the possible solutions. If you say it was hot before and ran it constantly before turning it off, this sound like the possible a replacement is in order. Did you run the lights directly off the pins?

If it's a software problem then you can backup your files from the SD card and reinstall. If it's a hardware one and the board is getting really hot when you plug it in then the self-healing fuse must be allowed a couple of weeks to restore itself and all should be fine. If it still doesn't work then you must have fried your board somehow.

I suggest you try booting from another SD card.

I wouldn't blow away the install you have but rather use another SD card with a fresh load to give it a try.

Worse case scenario you don't solve the problem but have an extra SD card for future projects.
