I am wondering which audio card is recommended for the new Raspberry Pi 4?
I am wondering which audio card is recommended for the new Raspberry Pi 4?
Depending on what country you're in, there's a bunch available at Newark and one available at Farnell and CPC have some others
I found several big names that DIDNT work, no explanation from the makers,,,,
HOWEVER here are two that I have successfully used lateky:
1) Pimoroni Speaker PHAT: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRJDP8K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Unfortnately one thing that's not make REALLY clear in many ads, its 1 channel 2watt output and the speaker, while a neat concept, less than great.
(I actually moved it to my retropi game machine)
2) this is the one im using and really am surprised at how much I like it: Adafruit (PID 3346) I2S 3W Stereo Speaker Bonnet for Raspberry Pi - Mini Kit
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXYBVKZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 one of the best parts is that if youre using more traditional speakers, it actually has some mounting ports you can plug right into. I will say this. I needed to move this several inches away from my RASPI, and tried everything I could. The maker was VERY helpful, but in the end I chalked it up to my poor soldering skills, because even though he fed me exactly what pins needed to be wired where, I could never get it to run on less than the full 40. (I bought a small 40 pin extension cable)
Hope that helps
Which ones didn't work?
We haven't tried any, yet. One that was recommended and that we'll be testing shortly is the InnoMaker HiFi DAC HAT PCM5122 Audio Card Expansion Board. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for all the feedback.
