How to connect music angel to Raspberri Pi?

Former Member

Hi!

I took an Music Angel apart and i wonder if i can make it work with my Raspberry pi 2B? The reason why i took it apart is that the battery was not working. It works perfect with power source though. I'm trying to make a radiocontrolled car(rc car), is there any way i can use the same battery for the speakers as i use for the motors?

Thanks for all answers.

I will attach a picture of how the speakers are looking now.

    Hi Ludvig!

Nice gift it seems image Maybe that the last thing to do is find a battery to replace image

I think there is not a particular problem making it playing the Raspberry PI audio output. What is the accepted kind of input of the Music Angel? I mean the impedance of the IN jack; I suppose it maybe the same like the line-out from a pc. In this case I suggest you to try two ways. As the Raspberry PI seems having not an internal great audio sent to the jack earphones port this is the first test to do just to see if the sound plays good with your device. Connect a stereo male-to-male cable from the jack of the Raspberry PI; a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack should work fine as the PI has no input to the audio-in of the Music Angel. Start playing with the volume from 0 increasing slowly. The better result to avoid distortion is to increase both the line in and audio out volume if possible.

For a better sound as far as I know I suggest to use an HDMI audio cable. You can follow the guide that is online by few days to the following link: Essential Raspberry Pi Peripherals #2: Setting up an HDMI Monitor

Same procedure starting with volume low.

thanks for the answer! However, i think that i will connect the music angel separately to a bluetooth reciever, so that i can play my music wireless by my phone. The only problem seems to be how to make the music angel and the motors use the same battery circuit. I want to have only one battery to charge and one port to charge it from for my entire car. I think I will use 12V motors, and a 12V battery. The speakers are marked with 4 ohm and 3W, but it don't say how much Voltage it requires. On the battery(which is broken) it says 1000mAh, but nothing about Volts.

The input is standard 3,5mm jack or AUX as i call it, as you suggested.

I am sorry I don't know this device so I have no idea what is the battery power. I can suppose it is 5V just because of the kind of device, but I can't be sure. Try searching for the exact model number you find somewhere on the box with "battery replacement". Or try to see if the battery connector on the PCB somewhere report the voltage. If the voltage regulator has the IC code visible you can check the datasheet and see what is the accepted input voltage that probably is the same expected from the battery.
