Dead rpi2, just solid green and fast overheating

Question

Hello to everyone! I've received as a gift two dead rpi2s. One is still to troubleshoot and it isn't the matter of discussion here. The other, when connected to a suitable power supply I've been using for years with another rpi2, gives only solid green led (no red led at all) and just after a couple of seconds the BCM SoC becomes so hot that it isn't possible to touch it.

Is there anything to do like measuring voltages on GPIO, cutting off diodes, anything else or do I just need to recycle it? I have to say I fear the latter... Thanks to everyone for your advices!

I think you've got your answer already.

If the single main chip is getting that hot, then you have an electrical fault on the board.

Cutting off diodes isn't going to help with that. Replacing parts will require you to troubleshoot and have the skill and tools to replace the part. Getting that far will take more in cost (parts ordering delivery costs alone, let alone your time and effort if you value your time) than the cost of a new board.
