I have in mind a project that I want to play with the RPi4 and a USB Bluetooth adapter that is class 1 and hopefully comes with an antenna option. Preferably without extreme pricing for something considered special lab/test equipment. :-) Looking for recommendations/experiences if possible.
Older references I have found referred to the SENA Parani UD100 with stubby antenna and then upgrading antenna to a dipole. But from their website they are out of stock now. One article discussed them being moderately inexpensive and on the website they list at $39.00. Parani-UD100 Bluetooth 4.0 Class1 USB Adapter, Exchangeable Antenna
Amazon shows them available for $93 and $75. A little higher price then I expected. https://www.amazon.com/Sena-UD100-Bluetooth-Class1-Adapter/dp/B01BHD7WR2/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=SENA+Parani+UD100&…
I did find the LM1010-0971 on Farnell but it shows out of stock until April next year. Seems promising but couldn't find anyone who may have actually used it with RPi. At a price under $20 this could be worth experimenting with. But was hoping someone may be able to share experience with it.
Found a SystemBase (Talus) - USB Bluetooth Dongle on Newegg but for $55 with only 1 review, it being bad and no mention of Linux support this seems to be something I would only try after not succeeding with the above.
So the LM1010-0971 (looks like there are actually a 70-74 versions out there but the 71 seems most common), shows promise for support and price. Has anyone used this and can share experiences?
Does anyone possible have another one that would work well with Linux and RPi?
