I have an old portable DVD player with an AV out plug. I was wondering if I used an AV to RCA cable then a double sided RCA cable if I could hook it up to a raspberry pi and use it as a screen.

I want to do the similar thing. But my dvd olayer has no av input. Can I solder to any to get the display to work on my rpi?
You would have to provide some details of the unit in question, quality photos of the inside and part numbers of the display etc.
To both HS & PO; This discussion thread was started in 2013. Comment(er) DH had Good Links (thru another person),.Quite Cool "hack" videos. But alas also posted in 2013. Cheaper Cost Displays are now available. If we could find even DVD Players now-a-days, we can try these Hacks while we listen to "Glory Days" (by Bruce Springsteen),
Again I ask comment(ers) to list their Country of Residence. This way we can suggest Options (both H/W & S/W) that may/may-not be applicable in that country.
