Raspberry Pi ipv6 stack

Hi Everyone!

 

I am a student in the 4th - final year at my faculty and i am considering to use the Raspberry Pi in my bachelor degree license project. I'm considering a ivp6 enabled web server based on Raspberry Pi.

My question is : can an ipv6 stack be implemented on this embedded device? Can you provide some topics from where to get started? It will help me hugely, because i'm new to the Raspberry Pi device.

    IPv6 is already implemented on Raspbian - and I guess in all linux based distros on the Raspberry.

     

    You just need to load the IPv6 module - if I recall - because it don't comes enabled by default.

     

    Just use the command  "modprobe ipv6" and it will load the IPv6 kernel module.

     

    You will have a working IPv6 stack after that.

     

    If you add "ipv6" to /etc/modules you will have that module loaded on each boot.

    My ubuntu systems boot with ipv6 up-and-running. Indeed my raspian does not boot with IPV6 running.

    Hi Roger,

     

    Edit "/etc/modules" and add a line with "ipv6" at the end.

     

    Your Pi will boot with the ipv6 module loaded on next boot.

     

    $ sudo su

    $ echo ipv6 >> /etc/modules

    $ reboot
