Software Defined Radio currently relies on Stereo Sound Cards - preferable 24/96 - to receive the I and Q demodulator components as stereo audio in from the SDR receiver. For radio folk, the A/D sample rate is more valued than the D/A rate - as the wider the input sampling rate, the better the view of the radio spectrum on the waterfall display. For transmit side, the D/A requirements are actually far less than that of typical music - as ham band standard rely on narrow bandwidth voice (2.5kHz) and even narrower digital. In either case, for SDR, Stereo is essential - to either demux the I/Q, or, to drive the I/Q inputs of the transmitter.
Can we anticipate a 24/192 A/D Stereo Channel for this board? If so, that would be fantastic news!
Would be be realistic for the board to support both stereo A/D + D/A for the Transmitter/Receiver, and an additional Mono A/D + D/A for the operator's microphone and headset?
