Case for Raspberry PI fitted with Wolfson audio card?

superpat
superpat over 11 years ago

Hi

The title says it all!

What cases are there that will accommodate a Raspberry PI with a Wolfson card fitted.

I have measured the total height of the card and audio board  (from under side of PI pcb to top of spdif connector as 26.5 mm)

cheers

Patrick

I've just been looking at this and thinking that if I removed all the unneeded sockets (I only want analogue in/out) and flatten/remove the headers the board itself should fit in most model B cases.

I would also remove the analogue out from the Pi board and run a wire from the Wolfson to a minijack where the output was (so it would be labeled correctly) then all that's needed are two RCA sockets on the side in the space where the network socket is on the model B.

So I guess what I need is a B height case with A port holes - has anyone seen one?  I've not seen many A cases at all, let alone oversized ones .

What about the CamdenBoss case that Farnell/Element14 are selling as a Wolfson Pi case? http://uk.farnell.com/camdenboss/wolfson-board-case-carbon/enclosure-box-abs-carbon-fibre/dp/2407263

Thanks Colin, that answers most people's question - it looks perfect for non portable use without needing to mod anything image

I'm trying to make a portable recorder though, so a shorter case would be better and having a big hole in the end (for the network port) right next to some semi-floating RCA sockets sounds like an invitation for damage.

I don't know what the costs would be (and it is based in the USA), but I came across a website that does custom spec cases, including Raspberry Pi cases

    http://builttospecstore.storenvy.com/products/404262-raspberry-pi-enclosure-kit

Might be a possible solution to your 'portable-Pi' requirement.

Excellent - if I can't find a suitable case I will contact them.

The Camden-Boss case I ordered for the Pi with Wolfson audio card arrived this morning, I ordered from a guy on eBay, as I found Farnell to be too trade-oriented, wanting you to have a corporate card or a trade account, or to order over £20's worth. Also they don't seem to offer PayPal as a payment option.

Anyway the box arrived. No instructions with it so I had to fiddle about a bit to get the Pi and Wolfson card into it, but it did go with a bit of jiggling about. I left out the included  light-pipes, as that seemed to add a bit too much complication to the fitting.

But it all seems to fit quite snugly, and looks quite nice, and everything still works! Oh yes, it also comes with 4 rubber feet, that slot into holes on the bottom.
