Is that mandatory to use the special OS to use wolfson pi audio card with Raspberry pi ??

Recently I downloaded this manual of Wolfson pi audio card from http://cpc.farnell.com/images/en_CC/WolfsonRPiSoundcardManual.pdf .In this manual they stated that we need to use a special OS for using this pi audio card with Raspberry pi. My question is, is that mandatory to use this particular OS for accessing Pi audio card ?? or any other normal flavors of OS such as OPENELEC , Raspbian, Debian.... etc with some library will support this pi audio card ??

Normaly it should be possible to use any linux based system. You have to compile and load the kernel modules to get the wolfson audio card working. Try http://linux.autostatic.com/ to get more information.

No, just use patched kernel from Re: Re: Wolfson modified Noobs raspbian zipped img Cannot unzip new download , I for example, use the RuneAudio - Embedded Hi-Fi music player with this kernel, which is a system based on ALARM ( ArchLinuxARM ).
