Raspi and AWUS036H setup

My eyes are bleery. i've checked the forums and Googled for hours now, but still can't get my Raspi to use my USB WiFi adaptor.

Am using raspberrypi 3.10.25+, fully updated.

i presently have access to the Raspi through an Ethernet connection, my home computer, ssh and vinagre. i almost feel like a hacker. Almost all of the forum posts in Google have to do with wardriving - lol.

i just want to be able to set up the Raspi and NOT have it use the Ethernet connection/cable when it boots up so we can go on to the next step of using it to measure temperatures on our solar hot water heater setup.

    Hi Frederick,

If it is a 'Wi-Pi' branded adapter, then this Wi-Pi document may help. This post shows in brief what needs to be done (two files need configuration).

For supported adapters, see this WiFi supported hardware page.

For general instructions, see here (it is a page for BeagleBone Black, but the concept is the same - just the file locations are slightly different, but you can refer to the earlier mentioned post for that detail).
