Hi All,

Can anybody let me know the solutions for below problems in Raspberry pi.

1.  Samsung Processor Heats up a lot.

2.  Diode D17 (Reference designator) Heats up a lot.

3. Camera does not work / detects.

4. Reboots again and again after trying with several good SD cards.

5. Display does not comes via HDMI.

6. Ethernet port does not detects, when the LAN is connected.

I hope few of the people might have come across these issues and it will be great if any one has resolved these issues and can share this with us.

But really the Raspberry pi Rocks image.

Thank you all in advance.

Regards,

Prashanth

    1) there is no samsung processor on the raspberry pi. What DO You have?

The Broadcom processor has RAM on top of it, if you look carefully there are two chips stacked on top of each other. It is normal that they heat up a bit.

The ethernet chip, (the other big chip, but slightly smaller) gets even hotter. This is normal.

    2) D17 is a powersupply-overvvoltage protection diode. Are you providing a proper 5V? If D17 gets hot, you're giving it too much!

    3) I don't know. DId you connect it correctly?

    4) This is usually a powersupply issue. Make sure your powersupply is good and even more importantly that the micro USB cable is of sufficient quality.

    5) Try adding hdmi_force_hotplug=1 and/or hdmi_safe=1 to your config.txt on your boot partition.

    6) Odd. Could be related to your power issues maybe?

I have checked it and I have the board in my hand which are field  return failure boards.

    1. They Have only SAMSUNG processor (K4P4G324EB-AGCI) , I hope this board is manufactured in UK.

    2. Using 5V 1A adaptor to power up.

    3. may I know what might be the causes for camera failures?

    4. Is this due to nulfunctioning of Processor?

    5. Thank you. We will try this.

    6. We have POE port, i won't think that it may be due to power.

Thank you for your valuable reply.

    Cheers,

    Prashanth

NO YOU DO NOT HAVE A  SAMSUNG PROCESSOR. The processor is a BCM2835, There is a 4 gigabit samsung RAM chip on top of the BCM2835 with a 32-bit databus and 4 banks. K4P-4G-32-4-EB

The processor is very tolerant for voltage changes. It will work properly from 3.3V to 5.5V. OTHER things on the raspberry pi will fail to work below 4.3V. Most importantly your ethernet will stop working below 4V. Even if your multimeter shows 4.5V, it is possible that short power dips prevent the ethernet chip from working....
