How to alter the audio samples acquired from Wolfson Audio Card on RaspberryPi and playback the altered samples?

Hi,

I am a newbie to raspberry pi and its accessories.. I want to experiment with Wolfson Audio card for my project, which needs to alter the audio samples captured by the card and playback the altered samples in REAL TIME.

I have written a C program which performs operations on the audio samples. However I am not able to find a way to incorporate the audio samples with my C prorgam and also to playback the output of my program(altered audio samples) on the headphone channel of wolfson. (real time audio capture and playback is required because I need minimum possible delay between the captured audio and the altered playback audio. Also the audio capture must not stop while the previous output of my prog is on the playback)

Please help me with any C commands/libraries available wiith Wolfson in order to serve the purpose of my project!

Any other suggestions would be helpful!

Currently I have Raspbian OS installed on Pi.

When this type of question pops up, I usually refer to the source code of the ALSA utilities.

In your case, I think the alsaloop program can be of interest. It takes sound from an input and plays it back on an output, with very little latency.
Presumably you could use alsaloop as a base and put your own code into the middle of it.

You'll need the ALSA develompent libraries to build it:

    sudo apt-get install libasound2-dev

So the file alsaloop.c is just compiled using the gcc compiler, assuming libasound2-dev is installed?  Just checking.  There is a make file in the alsaloop directory, and I'm not sure how that fits in.
