Wifi Video Link

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me

I have an application where it would be useful to be able to transmit the image of a readout/numerical display to a tablet or other portable device without using the internet.

I've bought a Panasonic sZ8 wifi camera which has this functionality used in conjunction with the panasonic image app on my tablet however the range is extremely limited for the application I would like to use it for.

I wondered if it would be possible to use a Raspberry PI and a wifi boost box/router to increase the signal strength?

Ideally I'd like to be able to transmit the signal about 100m - 150m or more if possible at the moment I'm getting about 10m - 15m max

Perhaps there is a solution that doesn't involve WIFI?

If the existing camera is already WIFI then all you should need is an extender, no PI necessary

the camera as far as it is concerned is sending its data to the closer router and is oblivious to the fact it is relaying the data further afield

I can see why you would need to introduce an additional component in the form of a PI ?. If the PI was destined to be this relay, by the time you have added the PI, A WIFI module, Power, Case etc, your already above the cost of an economical range extender

    Regards

    Peter

Doh! had closed mind to that one  as thought you could only connect direct to the camera.

That works you just have to connect the camera to the network or extender first then search the network/extender with the tablet

Now to find a really good extender.

    Any Suggestions?
