PiFace emulator triggers relays, Python does not

I wrote a program to automatically trigger a slide projector and a camera to take a picture.  The code runs without any errors, but although the 0 and 1 LEDs light when accessing the relays with pfio.digital_write, the relays don't fire.  I do have a 5v power supply on the PiFace.  And the emulator fires the relays.  What is happening?

    How have you connected your relays?

     

    What is the voltage rating and resistance of the coil ?

     

    If you disconnect the relays and temporarily connect a LED via a resistor to the out put you are using, do the LEDs switch on, when the relay on command is given?

     

    Make sure your code doesn't accidentally switch the relays on and then off again immediately, this would make the relays appear not to be working.
