Sylvania Netbook Model SYNET07526 and Raspberry Pi B Model 2?

Hello I have aSylvania Netbook model SYNET07526 as a paper weight laying around

Specs:

  • VIA 8505 Processor 400MHz
  • 128MB Memory
  • 2GB Internal Storage HDD
  • Windows CE 6

And With the new Raspberry Pi B model 2 coming out with more RAM and a better processor it just got me thinking why not replace the Sylvania Netbook's motherboard with a Raspberry Pi.

Problems:

-Keeping the screen it comes with?

-Powering the LCD Displace Module (If i keep the screen it came with)

-Space

-Keeping the battery Sylvania Netbook came with? (1800 mAh enough?)

-Keyboard size (I am having a hard time locating a Keyboard the same size as the one that come with the Sylvania Netbook but if anything I'll just leave the one it has on for it to look nice and use a Bluetooth keyboard)

-Space (Space is a really big problem. I am not sure if I should wait for a Raspberry Berry Pi 2 model A to come out to try this out because I'm not sure what the specs will be but the model A right now still has double the ram as the Sylvania Netbook)

I know I could just get a motorola laptop dock and connect the raspberry pi to it but I really want to use the Sylvania Netbook Case.

Making this because maybe someone has already tried this and can help me out, advice, or maybe point out something I missed.

I think this is a great idea. I have the same Sylvania netbook. I also have a raspberry pi B+. I think they would be great together, as I have never had luck doing anything constructive with the netbook. I think making the screen work will be the hardest.

It's not difficult at all to get the screen to work.  You'll need to find the actual part number on the back of the LCD, then lookup lvds or LCD controller kits on eBay.  Talk to a few sellers (they will talk), throw it together and you got a screen.  I did that with an old ASUS, but I gave the wrong part number, so there was ghosting.  Just gotta order the right one...

Also, its probably a 12v power for the display.

    Go for it!
