I was planning to buy an HP wireless mouse and keyboard combo like this one. I want to attach it with my raspberry pi model b (2nd gen). I just wanted to confirm whether it would be compatible with the pi or not. Please reply

The key issue is whether the combo is standards compliant. The horrible HP website does not make that certain and just says that it is 'Compatible with Microsoft
Windows XP/Vista/7/8'. However, it does not offer downloads of driver software, which is a good sign. It should be fine. I use a similar Logitech combo which works with the Raspi, but Logitech provide a Windows only download to tie the keyboard and mouse to the wireless dongle.
Some Linux distributions support special function keys like the multimedia keys, but ours do not. Turning the computer on and off won't work, but you may be able to find a Linux keyboard utility program to configure the use of the other additional keys.
