Raspberry PI Control and Display - display flip?

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi all,

I recently bought piface cad and was wondering if there is a possibility to flip display (I would prefer to avoid any soldering )?

I want to use my RPI2 as a media center connected to my TV and as an internet radio (with TV off) + use the buttons to be able to turn on/off RPI2 and select what which one I want to run - don't know if that is the best mix but that's the way I figured it out

The problem is that when I plug all the cables (especially power AC) and want to place it so I can use my remote the display is upside down - is there anything (relatively easy) I can do about it?

Many thanks for any reply / comments on the solution chosen.

Cheers

There should be a rotate option in the configuration files. Similar to this:

read down or search for 'rotate='

    Hi Paul,

I've been trying to find something like this (at the beginning it looked to me as an obvious option to have), but I didn't get any where with it - this is why I asked this question on forum image

Ahhhh... Thought you had a TFT there.

Having looked at the PiFace CAD the outlook doesn't look good.

The LCD looks like it uses a standard on-board controller. The character set is therefore held on the LCD module itself. The only feasible way to rotate the display would be by physically desoldering the display and putting it onto a ribbon cable.

Another approach could be to desolder the buttons (or tap wires onto them in situ) and bring them to a panel mounted equivalent somewhere on your enclosure.

I'm not that good with soldering (and probably will end destroying the whole thing image) so I think I will just build a case with additonal space for cables - in RPI2 power cable is next to hdmi, so it's that or soldering.

    thanks anyway!
