Epitaxial vs 1N4002 Diodes

Someone knows if it is acceptable to use diodes of the type 1N4001 or 1N4002 instead of epitaxial diode to manage signal channels with levels and frequencies of the order of the Ethernet 10/100 ? I have never used the Epitaxial pin diodes and I have no idea.

    Hi Clem,

     

    thank you for the detail. As you can read in the other post, for this specific case I think that the better solution is to adopt the LAN approach. There are also other aspects of the project that are involved making this solution the more reliable. In fact your suggestions are to take in account b me for other aspects of the project and you have added some informations that was totally unknown to me about the SPI mechanism to be used with two masters, that in this case can only make things more complex (more hardware, more software more of ...)

     

    As a matter of fact, the Arduino suggestion was also an idea I have considered, also because the SciFi your PI kit includes a PI board microcontroller, but making things more complicated just to add hardware is not an approach that I like.
