MPIDE for Chipkit PI on Raspberry PI running Raspian

balearicdynamics

How do someone of you has setup the Raspberry-PI (no matter the model) to run the MPIDE under Raspian to program and manage the Chipkit PI ? I have read in various places about a raspian version with the preinstalled MPIDE but the few links I have found for download didn't got success. I am trying to find a MPIDE setup on RPI-raspian wheezy with the possible minimum effort ...

Thanks in advance.

Yes, IDE crashes a lot and gets out of "sync" requiring it to be shut down and restart.  For example when uploading code, sometime it times out.  However it runs forever and never stops trying to upload.

    Once compiled:

    Servo Library does not work

I2C library does not work the same as Arduino and it has phantom I2C Ids that show up.  Data sent across I2C bus is not correct or not in same format as Arduino.

Both can be fixed and I may fix them but not sure if I have time.  However for more simple tasks like buttons and LED it works good.

I talked a little bit about it here:

Thank you for precious information. I should try very soon for another project that will manage a couple of servo and other almost "strong" features. I have a suspect why yours don't works and hangs and probably this depends on the serial settings under Linux. Anyway let me check and I will update this thread too

The reason it hangs up is if I forget to close minicom when I am monitoring the serial port.  The MPIDE cant open it.  the cause is my fault but the MPIDE should be able to recover from that error.

Please try the servos, I am also researching this issue as well as I2C issue.

    Sure.

Instead, by my side, I have not understood how can I connect the chipkit PI to the Mac (or windows). In this case the MPIDE runs but I have no idea on how I can upload the sketches. The other point that is obscure for me, is what I can to to "really" program the chipkit. WIth the AVR328p (Arduino but also dedicated architectures I have developed for some projects) I was using AVRStudio under Windows 7 for C++ programming and uploading the programs using the ISP connector and an AVR programmer (both Arduino uno and the original AVR MKII works fine) Instead in this case I have not found nothing about. I am not sure if I should move to the PIC site and setup the development environment or I should do something else. Do you have some suggestion ?
