Custom desktop on raspian

balearicdynamics
balearicdynamics over 10 years ago

This is half a question and half to start a discussion open for any kind of suggestion. If I have the need to start the Raspberry PI raspian with a customized desktop, including some parts and reoving others. Does someone has this kind of experience? It is something I have never used under linux.

Here are some ideas I am thinking to see what maybe the most reliable:

  1. Startx starts with a modified graphic UI
  2. A dedicated user interface with all the commands, controls etc starting over the standard X-server developed in Qt when a specific user logs in
  3. E web-based interface with a Qt web view doing something like point 2
  4. Soemething else
  5. A miracle

Thanks, got it. This is possible because the python has its own environment and its own autostart file, For Something more complex instead, i.e. the global Qt UI this will be driven by a initial login (or better an on-board physical switch that is what I am thinking) that starts the application as one of the custom setting in the intialization file of the X-server. It shuold be /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc but I have not the documentation in detail here, it's on one of the tons of e-book I have on my library image

    Cheers.
