7" Display from Element13 and Smart-Pi touch 2 case

Hello,

I'm likely late to the plate with this, but am building an ADSB transceiver and have set up the Raspberry Pi 4 in a Touch 2 case.  I wanted access to the full data throughput, so have obtained an Element14 7" touch display which physically fits the Touch 2 case but the mounting studs are approximately  2.45" by 2.10" on the Display and the Touch 2 case mounting holes are  2.87" x 2.87" .

So is there an adapter to fit it or is the display to be used on a different case?    What are my options?

thanks

RJ

I have come to accept it is important to understand the difference between compatibility and suitability.

I have used a number of Pi from earlier generations. I discovered the Pi4 can create obstacles in the simplest of things. Things that worked in the past now need changes. Case, power supply, video.. have caused me issues.

    Hi,

The 7" display module was a half-baked product, with no thought given to an enclosure.

Unfortunately, one kind of has to make the best of it when using it; the manufacturers of enclosures (such as the "Touch 2" case manufacturer) would need to supply the information on how to fit and secure the display. They have some assembly information here, which step are you stuck at currently?:

    https://smarticase.com/products/smartipi-touch-2

Incidentally, they might not be using all the mounting studs/holes on the display module, since they may be going for the "good enough to sell to consumers, but not thoroughly ruggedly secured" way of thinking.

Also, as Sean says, using a recent (e.g. Pi 4) Pi with an enclosure intended for an older Pi might not fit perfectly, even if the manufacturers claim it is compatible with Pi 4. They have a different meaning of what "compatible" means compared to users from, say, a business or industrial point of view. (Speaking from experience with various Pi parts and enclosures, but not that enclosure).
