I've read the book and it the leg in my three legged Pico chair of understanding the device.
I go with the stool. My own experience, the E14 Community and the book are my knowledge base. Take one out and I'm on my ***!

in Russian, the 3-legged thingy is called stool too
We call a chair stoel in Belgium and Netherlands, Stuhl in German.

Maybe a cutty stool or a milking stool, but in this (non-stool) case it is usually called "the three pillars".
In my case the 3 pillars are: external knowledge (Google etc.), internal knowledge, ingenuity (extracting useful knowledge to formulate a solution). Sometimes I can stand on just two legs...
Ha! Actually in English English, a stool is a stool because of its height not because of the number of legs. We have plenty of four-legged stools and three-legged chairs. At work we had a stool with no legs, just a semi-inflated ball which was as hard to sit on as it sounds.
The milking stool might be one-legged as well. These days you would call it a wearable or smart furniture.
