No post, no boot

Just got my Rasp PI 3's and went to set them up last weekend and get no post

no boot. I am using a 5v 1A standard cell phone charger. The same one that

powers my first gen PI. Can somebody shed some light on this or should I request

an RMA. I bought 2 of them and neither one would boot. not a flicker...Oh a red

light came on, but that is it. Any suggestions....

Hi Rick,

You need to download the latest image from raspberrypi.org.
Also, (generally) the newer Pi 3 needs more power, so swap out for a 2A or higher supply. Finally keep an eye on the red LED - if it goes out, then that means a power issue (as does some rainbow square superimposed on the video output when your board does eventually boot).

Ok I ordered two 5v 2A power supply's made for the raspberry. I will download new image from raspberrypi.org....my image
could not have been more that 2 to 3 weeks old...it ran on the original raspberry....oh well, now I gotta wait for the new power
supplies to arrive....Thanks

Which ones did you get? There is an 'official' 2.5A supply that is low cost (although it has the limitation that the cable is fixed, 1.5m length).
Your 2A will be fine, provided you're not hanging many things off USB.
If you don't want to wait till it arrives, you could try a smartphone charger (they are usually 2A capable too). The non-smartphone chargers have lower power capability.

nothing special, cheap enough. I wish to use these as servers, wish they were up and running so I could play w/ them...LOL
But once up and running I will just place them on a shelf and hopefully forget about them and just let them run....
