hardware interrupts - can you

Hi,

i was wondering if it is possible to set an i/o port pin to generate a software interrupt. i am new on the Pi and have done this on the arduino, any pointers would be much appreciated.

I am not sure I understand what you're after. It's my understand that in software an interrupt is really just asynchronous logic, which would be same as using a callback function. This could be tied to anything, like a timer, for example.
