You don't.  You embrace it as a badge of honor image

Here's a good thread about the RasPi "ban hammer": Banned... No good deed goes unpunished

I was very active at the official RasPi site when RasPi was new.  I found that you had to be very careful what you said and how you said it.

Edit: that really is a fun thread.  I miss some of the people who used to hang out here.  We had some great discussions.

John brings up a good point. The general populous is generally, general.  For the number of good comments you get, you will also get an equal number of rants. Many times the person really has an axe to grind about some issue, that may, or may not, be related to the discussion point.  Occasionally the rant is just because the person needs to vent.  The point I am trying to make is, if you are presenting an opinion, you need to be prepared for people who don't share your views.

My favorite exchange was over the Harry Potter series, where people were forbidding it, for "religious" reasons, often without actually reading the books.  My opinion was (and is), any person that can get children of eight to ten, to want to stand in line at midnight, so they can be the first to read an 800 page novel, should be sainted. Keeping, or getting, children interested in things like reading, mathematics, sciences, history, and music, has importance beyond measure. And anyone that is capable of being the spark for that interest should be afforded every means of encouragement.  (oops, I think that was a rant)

    Jack

I know some folks who actually ban their kids from celebrating Halloween (my favorite holiday) just because there are "witches and devils abound" who might influence their children - really!  It seems that innocent cosplay/fiction is scary for some folks are probably unsure of themselves (I should not expand that any further).  I wonder what they think of Star Wars etc.?  I shall not ask!

When dealing with private websites, you are a guest until they deem otherwise.

It is not an issue or right or wrong, the owners just want to control what goes on and if you violate their unwritten rules you are gone.

As @John Beetem said, "It is a badge of honor!"

Take the compliment and move on.
