Where can I find a Raspberry Pi 1 Model B case?

modalpdx

Talk about going extinct...I have a Raspberry Pi 1 Model B that needs a case, but I'll be darned if I can find any of them anywhere. I guess I could check Thingiverse and get someone to 3D print one for me (I don't have a 3D printer, alas) but something tells me it's cheaper to buy a case pre-made.

Am I confused? Did cases for these things ever exist? It's strange that I can't find any, not even used ones on eBay.

I know what you're thinking: "Get rid of that thing and get a RaspPi 3!" I already have a RaspPi 3 (w/ a case) but I also want to use this old crusty RaspPi 1 Model B. It's nowhere near as fast, but it's still very useful.

Any hints? And yeah, I looked here but there isn't anything for my exact model.

Thanks for an pointers you can provide!

Erik

Seems a bit steep compared to the non-extinct cases, but here's one on eBay:

Or if you want to DIY, Instructables.com has a few ideas.

For 3D printing, do you have any 3D Hubs (https://www.3dhubs.com/) providers near you? That might be an affordable solution too.

    Cheers,

    -Nico

Wow, yeah that's a bit steep for an extinct RaspPi case, but it's a nice find nonetheless. image Thanks Nico! I will explore local options instead, but I appreciate the pointer.

It looks like I do have a number of 3D printer businesses in my area according to 3D Hubs. I did not know about that site, so thanks for pointing it out to me. I'll track down a 3D pattern and see if one of the printers in my area can give me a good price on a cheap print.

    Thanks again! All very helpful.

    E.

It was Spring 2013 that I got my Rasp Pi 1B. I had an old Powered USB 1.1 Hub, which I opened and "raised the Roof" (Cover) used Stand-off's to

mount the Pi Board between the Base and the Cover. The Hub used a 7.5 Vdc Power Brick. I tapped-off 7.5Vdc and used a 5Vdc-Voltage-Regulator-IC to provide DC power to the Pi. Perhaps you can get a powered USB2.0 Hub from (say) eBay. mine was USB1.1, but then again the Pi-processor was No Barn-Burner either. PRESENT DAY: I am thinking of getting: a) RaspPi 3, SmartPi Touch Case for RaspPi Touchscreen, RaspPi 7" Touchscreen. All three can/are "made for" each other. If you have a Dremel Tool, you can cut-out an opening for "access" to the GPIO pins. Also the Touch Case has LEGO Studs on the left-side. which I will use to mount a Bitscope.

I never would have thought of a USB hub case. Nice idea! I think I have one laying around, but it may be a rounded Belkin unit which may not work. No bother, Goodwill has plenty I'm sure.

    Thanks!

This is the case I have for my original Raspberry Pi model A. The cover pieces snap out for the additional USB port and Ethernet port on the model B.
