Pi and Cirrus Audio Application.

If there is a better place for this posting please could those with super powers move it.

As I have just got a simple application working I thought that I would report it to folks.

I often do the sound effects for an amateur theatre group. I was asked if I could make a resonant echo-y effect for a scene set in a crypt or dungeon.

A very simple configuration of Jack, Jack Rack and a reverb plugin has done the job. We have suspended the Pi over the stage and the on-board microphones pick up enough of the on-stage sownd to create the echoes we need. We feed the front of House (audience) loudspeakers, via an amplifier, using the audio output from Cirrus headphone socket.

It's very spooky when it is switched on.

The configuration is not perfect - I still need a laptop to provide an X display in order for the Jack stuff to run. I will be trying to get over this problem when I get the hardware back after the play has finished.

It sounds interesting! And super-appropriate for Halloween : )
The best place for this is "Raspberry Pi Projects", it is possible to create a blog post (this is a discussion, not a blog post) where you can insert text, images, videos or recordings, to fully document the solution
you have designed. You can also tag it with keywords, there is an option for that. 'halloween' tag probably already exists so that could be an option, as well as any other you think are useful, e.g. 'reverb'.

You can edit the post at any time, so if you are still making tweaks then that can be mentioned in the post and then later marked with some text indicating the modifications you made in case people are
replicating it.

Also, there is a 'Syntax highlighting' option in the editor (click on the icon that looks like '>>' and it will be under there) so you can get any code/scripts nicely formatted in the editor. Lengthy code could also be
attached as a file to the blog post.
