Raspberry Pi, EnOcean Pi, OpenHAB and LED Driver

Hi, I would like to use the EnOcean switches to control LED lights with that have a driver with a 0-10V dimmer.  One option is to use the EnOcean LED Relay Zone Controller, 0-10V, LEDRU-W-E0, https://www.enocean.com/en/enocean_modules_902mhz/led-relay-zone-controller-0-10v-ledr-oem/ .  This device has a 120 VAC relay to switch the LED driver on and off.  It also has a 0-10V output for the driver dimming circuit.  The problem is that these relays are ~$100 each and I need ten of them.  I would rather not spend ~$1000 to solve this problem.

 

I have seen the videos of the EnOcean switches with the RPi, EnOcean Pi and OpenHAB.  Are there interface boards that could be added to this basic system to add the same capability as the EnOcean LED relay?  I'm assuming that the RPi would need to interface to a digital relay board to switch the 120 VAC and to a D/A board for the 0-10V dimming circuit.  Before I ask all the many questions that I have, I would welcome any feedback on the feasibility of doing this.

    If you look at the project  Forget Me Not you'll find that several people were controlling outputs from the RPi via OpenHAB.

     

    They were receiving data from Enocean devices and others and then using the RULE scripts, controlling RPi outputs.

     

    BTW you can use the cheap opto coupled relays.

    They are designed to operate from 5v, but if you change the resistor value (about half) they will work reliably from the 3v3 that the RPi controls.

    OpenHAB was also very popular in the Pi IoT challenge. Be sure to search that area as well.

     

    But indeed as Mark states: using rules, you can trigger anything from anything. Even when there is no binding for what you would like to do, it is possible to trigger scripts you created which can. OpenHAB is very flexible image

    Thank you Mark and Fredrick for the replies.  Fredrick I have looked at your very impressive award winning project in the Forget Me Not challenge.  That is how I found this Element14 community.  I will check out the Pi IoT from Mark as well.  I was hoping that there might be a more PnP option; but at least it seems feasible.

    OpenHAB comes with a large number of bindings, see the supported technologies and the list of bindings itself. It should, for example, support anything with an X10 interface.

    As an aside.

    I once played with dimmable fluorescent ballasts.

    They had a 0-10v output that could be fed with a voltage or would take a potentiometer and drag it down to reduce the output.

     

    We used it to flash the lamps for a sequenced wall by simply shorting it out.

     

    Perhaps your led devices may have a similar functionality, which gives you some other options.
