Raspberry pi 2+ and Adeept RFID learning kit.

First of all i would like to say i am new to this forum and hello to fellow members, my problem is i have bought a pi+ for my grandson with the adeept learning kit, when we looked at the instructions that came with the kit it gives you a Python source code to download being the following,

$ git clone https://github.com/adeept/Adeept_RFID_Learning_Kit_Python_Code_for_RPi.git but when tried to entered into the pi we got a message(cannot remember what it was ) and would not download. Has anyone had this problem if so does anyone no what the correct line should be,

from a computer litterate grandad

THANKS.

    Hi Arthur,

It is hard to know without seeing the error message, but perhaps it could be one of these three things:

    1. The '$' sign is not part of the command, so when entering the command, ensure to begin with the git clone part, not $ git clone
    2. An error elsewhere in the line was typed; I'm guessing it was typed by hand, so there is a chance the command was not typed precisely. If this is the case, you can press the up-arrow on the keyboard to recall the line, and then edit it; easier than re-typing the entire line again
    3. No Internet connection, or some other network issue; this can be tested by typing (say) ping bbc.co.uk and seeing if you get a reply (press Ctrl-C to stop that).

If the issue still occurs, the error message is needed (or at least the first line or two, if the output is long, or take a photo of the output and attach it to the message).

You will need to provide the exact error message.

At a guess, I suspect that your R-Pi wasn't connected to the Internet so cannot reach github.com to download the required files.

Try opening a web browser on the R-Pi and going here to verify you can access github:

    https://github.com/adeept/Adeept_RFID_Learning_Kit_Python_Code_for_RPi

and where you can download the files manually if necessary.

In addition to the suggestions above.

If you are using Raspbian Lite, then git might not be installed.

This can be solved by installing git:

    sudo apt-get install git

If you have 'damaged' the SD card then you may want to start here:

    https://www.raspberrypi.org/learning/software-guide/

which will tell you step-by-step how to set up the Raspberry Pi.
