Ideas for Raspberry Pi Zero Projects

spannerspencer

So, we've got the Raspberry Pi Zero games console here, Problemchild mentioned a great idea about turning an old stereo into a modern media player, and Workshopshed has already designed a Pi Zero case for 3D printing.

All of which makes me wonder what other kinds of projects you guys think the Pi Zero would be ideal for?

And, for that matter, if you have any Pi Zero projects planned yet?

I'm thinking they would be ideal as wireless remote displays.

Hang a WiPi off the end and use the 5v from the monitor, and you should be able to stream video or whatever directly to them.

Another use is similar to our Forget Me Not Challenge ( Forget Me Not Design Challenge ) where we collected data and then displayed it.

Here you have the advantage it can hang on the display, so it makes a perfect remote weather type display, photoframe, or even a remote message display.

This is really good ! if - as they have mentioned - this device is compatible with all the previous models add-ons and HAT, maybe great a PI2 + PI 5$ + HDMI screen and some extra features to make a wireless desktop adding just 5$ (and a small case backfit to the screen to have a wireless scress for desktop / laptop. As I have one in my hands I'll try to do it.

Looking forward to seeing that one!

And all of them, for that matter -- we've got a few ideas here too, if we can get hold of some Pi Zeros!

I was thinking this would make a great keyboard device with programmable keys like dvorak keyboard.

I like that! I taught myself to use Dvorak a couple of years ago, but I had to go with a low-tech option (prizing the keys off and rearranging them! It never worked the same after that kind of butchery!). Haven't used it for a while, but once I was used to it, I think it did feel quicker.

    Good thinking Clem!

For the Nigerian library project (already mentioned somewhere in some post) this will be perfect to experiment beyond the proof of concept. Not only but ... I think that with a little help of some great developer crew (two guys) and their sources I can make a wireless HDMI screen not only for the PI but for almost any OS... Someone knows synergy ?
