Why does the price of the Raspberry Pi 5 seem higher than originally quoted?

I've seen claims of $80 for the board, but after exchange rate and in the store it is a lot higher, why is that?

    Original prices quoted do not typically include local taxes, VAT and shipping costs, typically. Eg. in the UK VAT is 20%, £65.93 quickly turns into £79.12
