Raspberry Pi OS will be updated to 'debian bookworm'. This is a significant change for how the graphical user interface environment is rendered and displayed.
A major change is the move to wayfire wayland compositor from X11. If you typically use VNC to remote connect to your Raspberry Pi, you may find that older methods will no longer work and you will have to try using WayVNC on the Raspberry Pi (server end) and TigerVNC to connect to it (client end).
This means some changes with Pi OS will have to happen so that it is backward compatible with previous Raspberry Pi models, as wayfire wayland will only work effectively on the Pi 4 and Pi 5 as previous models do not have required hardware components.
