Take the NEW PiRack Connect Four Challenge for a chance to win a $275 Arduino Robot development kit!

We have exciting news for anyone working on Pi projects!

The element14 Community’s PiRack Connect Four Challenge is open for project submissions until October 18th, and we are offering you a chance to get started on your entry with a free PiRack! The winner will receive the Arduino Robot Development Kit. The winner will also receive the Connect Four board game, a vertical checkers game.

The PiRack is an expansion board that allows the connection of 4 I/O boards to the Raspberry Pi. It also enables the Pi Camera Module to be used at the same time as the expansion boards.

If you are interested in getting a free PiRack in exchange for entering the PiRack Connect Four Challenge, please respond to this post with an outline and description of your project idea. The element14 Community team will review the ideas and let you know if you are selected to receive a free PiRack.

When you are done building your project, please read the contest directions and blog about your idea here to officially enter the contest.

Take advantage of this special opportunity to start your contest entry for free. Offer available while supplies last and we only have 25!

We look forward to seeing your creations!

I would be interested in making a project using the PiRack.

I am new to the RPi world as I only just recently got mine. I've been reading and working pretty much full time on it though. My intent is to replace my existing web site with one that runs on the RPi.

So far I've built a case from an old power supply to host the RPi, a 100GB 2.5" Sata HDD and a powered USB hub.

I'm working on a new structure that will mount onto a VESA bracket to attach directly to the back of an LCD panel.

I'd like to use the PiRack to mount all the add-on boards that I have ordered for my project which will ultimately combine 2 or 3 RPis. I've got a couple of prototype expansion boards, RTC, RTC with thermometer, Power pack, power pack charging module, a 16x2 LCD panel, a 16x2 LCD panel with buttons and a 20x2 LCD panel. The goal is to mount as much as possible to give lots of status information on the LCD panels and run a LAMP web site headless. In addition I'd like to mount 4 x USB Voltage/Amp meters to monitor power drain by the various components.

    Hello sir ,

I am currently doing a robot with face detection ,voice recognition ,which combines both arduino mega and raspberrypi . This robot will be a humanoid robot which will be connected lot of sensors and actuators .

So if  you can help by providing me the PiRack board ,I think it will be a lot easier to complete my bot and join the challenge .

I just completed a Raspberry Pi project. It is a web-accessible controller for a cat feeder. A Raspberry Pi hosts a python-powered web site that displays information on the number of treats given in the last 24 hours and the last treat time. The software uses the Pi camera and a motion detect algorithm to take photos when the cat is moving in the frame. The HTML served by the web site does AJAX calls back to the web server to get updated stats and to check for a new camera image. A button on the web page allows you to dispense a cat treat, enable/disable the motion capture, and manually trigger a photo. In addition, there is an LCD and a button in the control box that lets you see the treat information and trigger a dispense cycle locally. Here is a two-part video showing the project:

I just built BerryCam which integrates the Camera module with smartphones and tablets through an easy to use UI

easily allows users to play with the various filters built into the camera as well as capture settings (WB,exposure and so on)

initially released for iOS the Android version will be following soon.

    More info here...

We have successfully deployed Digital Signage with built-in GPRS/GPS in City Buses based on Intel ATOM Platform. Now after running through the short comings of the platform for three years, we plan to develop phase 2 of the system. Raspberry Pi with all the accssories avalible and more over capability of running HD videos at low power makes for a perfect match. Development is based on python, hope to florish details at the earliest.
