Take the NEW PiRack Connect Four Challenge for a chance to win a $275 Arduino Robot development kit!

 

We have exciting news for anyone working on Pi projects!

 

The element14 Community’s PiRack Connect Four Challenge is open for project submissions until October 18th, and we are offering you a chance to get started on your entry with a free PiRack! The winner will receive the Arduino Robot Development Kit. The winner will also receive the Connect Four board game, a vertical checkers game.

 

The PiRack is an expansion board that allows the connection of 4 I/O boards to the Raspberry Pi. It also enables the Pi Camera Module to be used at the same time as the expansion boards.

 

If you are interested in getting a free PiRack in exchange for entering the PiRack Connect Four Challenge, please respond to this post with an outline and description of your project idea. The element14 Community team will review the ideas and let you know if you are selected to receive a free PiRack.

    Your link only points me to the Arduino group, and a search finds nothing.

    I am planning on using a RPI to replace the ATOM based intel pc for a automotive infotainment system.  The RPI uses way less power and takes up much less space.

    The system would be based off a reworked version of linux ICE (in car entertainment), which runs on x86.  The PiRack would take care of Hardware addons. These would include GPS, bluetooth,relay board and backup camera. this leaves the USB port open for HID, and input from the touchscreen Oh and I almost forgot a GSM/GPRS board for cell and data connection. if there is any space/power left, we could add WIFI and maybe figure out a way to make the RPI a hotspot for the mobile data/internet. My current intel system draws almost 15 amps running and 2-3 in standby, the RPI setup would draw a quatrer of that, eliminating the need for a shutdown timer/controller and instead replacing it with a simple voltage monitor.  This would eliminate the need for constant reboots and prevent dead car batteries.I would call this the quater PI system, since it is 1/4 the size, and uses 1/4 the current, and  1/4 the the total cost.
