We have exciting news for anyone working on Pi projects!

 

The element14 Community’s PiRack Connect Four Challenge is open for project submissions until October 18th, and we are offering you a chance to get started on your entry with a free PiRack! The winner will receive the Arduino Robot Development Kit. The winner will also receive the Connect Four board game, a vertical checkers game.

 

The PiRack is an expansion board that allows the connection of 4 I/O boards to the Raspberry Pi. It also enables the Pi Camera Module to be used at the same time as the expansion boards.

 

If you are interested in getting a free PiRack in exchange for entering the PiRack Connect Four Challenge, please respond to this post with an outline and description of your project idea. The element14 Community team will review the ideas and let you know if you are selected to receive a free PiRack.

  • Like to replace my linux router based domotica system (midge openwrt) and cmucam security camera, with a Raspberry Pi.

    The PiRack is indespensable for such a project with lots of I/O needs.

  • I can use this to neaten up and improve the project that I have been working on for a while now, my rover.  All the information on what I have done can be found here:  https://code.google.com/p/cmd-robot/

     

    I can use the Pirack to improve the integration of some of the components that I use such as the gertboard and motor shield.  I have not integrated the Pi Camera module yet but I can surely do that as well with the Pirack.  I hope that the Pirack brings with it new stablity for the project as well as one of the major problems I had was with wires coming out when the robot was moving.  Pirack eliminates this problem (...well it should...hopefuly.).

  • I am planning to use a raspberri pi and the pi camara moduel to hack a r2 d2 hasbro intreractive i am also planning on adding a projector inside that will go through the light beem part of the r2d2  i have other ideas but this is the main one for right now.

  • I'd like to use both the PiFace and the RaZberry (Z-Wave) daughterboards on the same system, to control various office lights and trigger network-based actions using buttons connected to the underside of my desk.  I've recently started playing with the command line interface on a Squeezebox Wi-Fi radio so at least one of the buttons will control that (on/off, play specific station, etc.).  I'll probably run out of ideas before using all of the PiFace inputs (there are 8 of them).

  • I'm working on an inexpensive motion triggered image capture device that will be installed in commercial locations, and hooked up to a social network based application (sorry, name has to be with-held for now). The motion detection is integral to the fact that the idea is folks can check the venue from the web to see "what's happening" there, before actually going. The key parts are motion detection, camera (of course) for stills, basic web server for retreiving images, and internet connetivity from the site.
