Counting Traffic with Telraam - stats after 2 days

What happened before: Counting Traffic for the Community - Telraam.

I installed a traffic counter, to help measure traffic flows in my community.
It films the street, recognises traffic, type of movement, direction and speed.
Its telemetry data is collected for decision making purposes, and is available to the public.

I have about 2 days worth of data. A half day 2 days ago, a full day yesterday and a half day today. Just enough to start seeing if it behaves well.

Yesterday wasn't a typical day though. There was a NATO top and the US president and the member county leaders were in town.
Traffic was a bit different then I expected. And the street was blocked for an hour because of a fire.
The future will tell if this is an odd day in my perception, or if the data confirms that.

The graphs that I'm showing here (available to the public) haven't settled yet. 2 days doesn't allow for trends.
But I think it's interesting to show how the trends build up and settle over time. The first day data is a good point of reference to see the evolution later.

Speed profile is still very comparable to when it started to measure after installation:

I've mentioned it in the 1st post, but the buckets at the high end of the graph have to be interpreted. It's hard to drive 70 KM/H or more in my street without damaging your car.

Direction data: looks like traffic is balanced in both directions.

Before the pandemic there was a lot more traffic during the peak moments, and in the morning there'd be a que of cars driving to the right, in the evening cars to the left.
I haven't seen that the last year, bar a few exceptions.

And finally, the mix:

It's still too early to expect separation between trucks and cars. Calibration is still happening.

Improving camera image quality

I noticed in the first QA check picture, that a white piece of furniture inside the room was shown as a reflection on my window. In particular in bright sunny conditions.

For the moment, I've put something black on top of those. I'll check today if I still have reflection artifacts. Once the device has taken its QA image, I can validate if this helped.

Because it is - unexpected for the climate we live in - snowed last night, the Telraam team pushed a new type of traffic via OTA update.

I started using the API to retrieve data. It's easy:

Connection test and Counters on my street stretch (I'm the only active one, there seems to be an older one that stopped reporting):

I just saw that it's captured by the cam:

The truck was standing still for a long time - the fire was at my neighbours on the other side of the street. That's why the vehicle is recognisable.
