We are very excited to introduce the all new Raspberry Pi Pico, a tiny, $4, MicroPython and C/C++ board with custom RP2040 silicon.

This is the first product from the Raspberry Pi Foundation built with their in house designed RP2040.

At $4 and available individually or even available on reels, this Raspberry Pi is the next step in home and industrial products.

Looking at the edge of the PCB you can see the Raspberry Pi Pico has been designed to be used with header pins or soldered directly onto your products PCB.

    There are ports of MicroPython which run on an Arduino DUE.

    Then again there is support for some Arduino boards such as Arduino MKR and Nano 33 boards with CircuitPython:

    Also, there was an attempt with a PIC32, and even a MSP432,to port MicroPython for them:

    Personally, running Python or even MicroPython on a CORTEX-M0, although a bit interesting, seems someone impractical.  Python is a resource hog even MicroPython will be somewhat limited on the M0. Parallax had attempted to get MicroPython running on their Cyber:Bot which is a micro:bit and Propeller combo but there really is very little code the config can handle.

     

    As far as the Visual Studio or Eclipse use, I would expect these are only suggestions.  An IDE should not be needed especially since CMake is being used which could be done via command line.
