B&K Precision DAS60 High Speed Multi-Function Recorder
The B&K Precision DAS60 is the top model in the High-Speed Multi-Function Recorder category and positioned for applications in research, development, maintenance, and power monitoring. I am thrilled to be selected as a road tester for this review and extend my thanks to Element 14 and B&K Precision for the opportunity!
At the most basic level, any Data Acquisition System (DAS) will measure samples of real-world signals, convert analog signals to digital format, then store or present the results to a user or a computer for analysis. A DAS can record multiple inputs for lengthy periods of time, which allows infrequent events to be captured, analyzed and compared to each other within a single instrument and the same time base. A practical example could be to monitor and record how an EV battery source is impacted by speed, driver use, temperature and other environmental factors at an instance in time. However, the B&K Precision DAS60 is not just any DAS. This model promises significant capability and speed:
• 6 isolated analog input channels with an input range from as low as +/- 5mv to +/- 500V rated for CAT III
• 16 logic inputs
• 2 dedicated platinum RTD temperature inputs (Pt100/1000)
• 4 outputs for alarms or external trigger
• 1MSa/s/channel sampling to memory, 500KSa/s/channel to file. 14-bit resolution
• Power analysis for single phase or three phase power sources, Fresnel diagram and harmonic distortion displays
• 10” TFT touchscreen LCD
• Custom filters and triggers
• Digital Numeric or Oscilloscope views
• Portable with battery life up to 9.5 hours
• Network connectivity
Unboxing the B&K Precision DAS60
The B&K Precision DAS60 ships in a rugged carrying case with custom fitted foam inserts securing the equipment inside:
• 1 B&K Precision DAS60

The DAS60 promises exciting functionality. Getting up and running is intuitive and straightforward, I was able to get started easily. My first impressions are that this is a rugged, capable instrument – I couldn’t wait to get started and my review is well underway. For the interim I wanted to share my initial experience through an unboxing video.
This concludes my brief introduction of the B&K Precision DAS60 High Speed Multi-Function Recorder. More to come along with my review. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions or requests!
