Making a ring light

Today I made a aluminium ring serving as heatsink for the ring light.

As I had to do it by hand, using only a hacksaw, dril and Dremel, I'v choosen to quick and dirty make a octagon shaped plate.

To be honest in the end it was more dirty than quick image.

First I calculated:

and drew the shape on a piece of 2mm thick aluminium plate:

Then using hacksaw and Dremel, I cut it out:

Finally I drilled the  holes for mounting the LED's and mounted them:

Thats it for now, next step, soldering and testing with the TPS9251 hopefully on Monday.

stay tuned.

The plate should make a good heat sink. DAB
