Magnetic Connectors - Better Than Average

If you missed the subtlety of the Crocodile Dundee reference... these connectors are fantastic.  Thank you e14 for the opportunity to try them out.

What are they?  Specifically, the MulticompPRO MP series magnetic connectors.  What makes these so useful is the 30VDC/VAC 5A rating.  I can get into a lot of trouble with 5 amps.

I'm kind of an application guy.  How can I use it?  I had a few ideas.  Again, thank you e14 and rscasny for letting me bring them to life.

.... a "flexible" magnetic retriever - and it is waterproof - you can fish for dropped items....

colporteur  True that "extremely cold weather" is a very subjective term. Laughing My Wisconsinite daughter who has been living in Texas for the last 10 years also puts on a jacket when it gets in the sixties (F).  "Extremely cold" in my mind is when daytime high temperatures are in the 0 degrees F band and the wind chill temperatures start to make the difference between C and F almost moot.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I know the cable on the block heater cable is pretty robust. A commercial store in my neighbourhood purchased one for their deliver vehicle. Driver kept forgetting to unplug to block heater:)

You mentioned extreme cold weather. How do you define that? I have been to California where low sixties is considered cold. I have lived in locals that the typical consumer thermometer doesn't read because the temperature is so low.

Perhaps another use case - magnetic retrieval tool ?  Slight smile

Thanks, DAB .  I do laugh at myself for being able to find an application for magnetic connectors but have no idea what to do with a $20k oscilloscope. JoyJoy
