POLL Do Roadtest Pages Provide You with the Information You Need to Apply for a Roadtest?

Roadtest landing (enrollment) pages typically provide detailed technical information about a product that is being offered in a roadtest. They also provide additional information in the form of datasheets, user manuals, getting started guides, software guides -- the type of deep technical information you may need to develop with the product.

Roadtest landing pages typically have not contained that much background/marketing information that would be of interest to the non-technical person. If roadtesters felt that they wanted more background/marketing information, I can provide it. But that has not been the audience the roadtest typically serves.

The question I want to visit in this poll is: Do the roadtest pages contain the information a member needs to make a decision to apply for a particular roadtest? Are the pages too technical? not technical enough? missing information you would like to have? or has the right information?

    I agree with this comment and feel the same. I could road-test a device/kit in several different ways, but not necessarily in all the ways given the road-test duration time constraints. So knowing what the sponsor's intensions are can help focus the efforts in line with the sponsor's wishes. A few lines on the high-level expectations should suffice, leaving fair amount of freedom for the roadtester to work out the specifics.

  • Generally the info supplied is great in describing the road test and what is needed. Occasionally a question comes up, but the comments format is used effectively to address them. The comments also expand the discussion in directions of interest to members. With the level of information supplied, I don't think any lack of information is a factor that adversely affects participation.

  • Just a short note regarding licenses / options: when none are supplied, just state it so (to avoid questions about it). (E.g. for the NGL201 road test, there would be a 'digital trigger' option, but AFAICS its not part of the RT - but I cannot be sure about it).

  • If I can summarize the feedback provided here. The roadtest information page should be structured in the following way:

    1. Title (usually this is the sponsor + the product name)

    2. Summary: this is meant to be the background/non-technical information in one or two sentences

    3. RoadTest Goals: what the sponsor wants to get from the review

    4. Product Variants: a list of all product variants. I identify the variant used in the roadtest (which should be the same under the BUY NOW button)

    5. Contents: what the roadtester will receive

    6. Hardware Technical Description

    7. Software Description: links and expiration dates of any options or licenses

    8. Documentation: links to all datasheets and user guides

    9. Important dates (due dates)

    10 Terms and Conditions (required by element14)
