Road Test video review; Write-up coming soon!

I put up my first ever Road Test video on YouTube! Once I get I2C working (or give up), I'll do a write-up as an actual Road Test review. In the mean time, here are my first impressions and a few notes about the CapSense MBR3 eval kit!

I think that's one of the earlier chips, configured via switches and resistors rather than the internal registers of the MBR3.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I had meant to mention the PSoC, but I went off script at one point and skipped over it. I simply meant that the board isn't going to be doing any Arduino-esque computing.

As for the dev kit, I checked out their site a couple days ago. The board they have on there is a much more compact design with more easily accessible pins on its side. Or at least that's what it looks like, I haven't actually watched the product video yet. The page is here. For my prototyping purposes on my breadboard, the eval kit works just fine, but you're right, I'm going to have to draw up a PCB once I get all the programming and parts working.

Hi Chris, good video. There is a "fancy chip" on the board but it's just used as an I2C to USB bridge and to quote Gagan, "The PSoC device on this board (PSoC 5LP) comes factory-programmed as a Programmer and Debugger. It currently can not be used standalone."

The configuration can be uploaded to an MBR3 chip and then the MBR3 can be used by itself, so I'm not really sure how a "dev kit" would work in this case, for prototyping you'd really need to start making PCBs as the routing of the wiring is important. The MBR3 does not need a microcontroller so you could even have the GPOs driving transistors to turn on and off a larger load.
