RoadTest Review Success Rate

Can you share any statics on selected candidates completing reviews for RoadTests they have been awarded?

I just discovered only one of three reviews was completed for the WAGO Terminal Block RoadTest. I was considering making an application for the RoadTest. I also thought it was a good product for a first-time RoadTester. I was disappointed to discover that only 1 of 3 actually did the reviews.

I know you put considerable effort into the RoadTest program. I have read posts that suggest only the top members are selected for RoadTests. Well if top members deliver, then I think that is a reason top members get selected more often. I'm curious to see how your efforts are paying off.

    This topic is of course of crucial interest to rscasny and he periodically shares a few statistics. He has done a great job of structuring the program to provide wide access to the program while ensuring…

    When you get the device sent to you, I believe this lifts it above volunteer.

    I have been bitten by that one too: FPGAs are very (very very) complex. And road test deadlines are similar to those for familiar technology.

    Extending the times by default would not be my first choice though. Extending time (in my vey own opiniated opinion) does not lead to more reliable finalisation.
    But regardless: FPGA road tests are difficult. 2 orders of magnitude more difficult than testing a sensor board.

    If I have to club tests into ranges;

    - SBC (Pi?) and microcontroller boards, I2C and SPI sensors, DMM, lab supplies and function generators: easy

    - analog road tests, oscilloscopes, component based tests (inductors, capacitors, ...) medium

    - switch mode DC conversion designs, precision lab instruments: advanced

    - FPGA, security related ICs and processors, Low power designs (and low currency measurement), advanced lab instruments (say: source meter, vector analyser): hard.

    My most difficult road test: 3 plastic cards (credit card sized badges) from Infineon. The smallest devices I ever tested. But I learned "a lot"

    Delays in completion should be expected.  Provided that organizers know of the issue I don't see a problem. This is a volunteer involvement. Life does get in the way sometimes.

    Sadly. I am currently candidate for the most late review this year with my PolarFire FPGA Evaluation Kit review which is currently 53 days over my deadline. But I am working on it. Currently I am finishing last experiments and will post review most probably sometime next week. I plan to complete my experiments this weekend and post almost finished RoadTest review sometime in week.

    In my case It is caused by combination that this FPGA board is huge, FPGA development environment is slow, everything took time very much and I was also busy by other tasks and contests which took me more time than I originally expected. Also, I did not expect to RoadTest this board at this time. It is about year delayed Roadtest.

    The success factor has definitely increased. I also saw that the Wago one is an outlier. I commented on it a little while ago.
    Overall, I think that the review rate and quality has been decent.
