In my haste to evaluate the power supply functions I skipped over reviewing the Product Features and Basic Operation, so I'm going to back up and do that in this blog.

Product Features (from the User Manual)

  • SIngle output switch mode DC power supply
  • Max 30V output voltage, Max 3.75A output current, Max 50W output power
  • Handheld design
  • Fanless cooling for silent operation
  • Four digit LCD display
  • Output short circuit protection
  • High speed dynamic response
  • Automatic protection under power off status
  • Automatic output recognition of USB charging port

Physical Specifications

  • Black Hard Plastic case with rear kickstand
  • Dimensions  185mm x 88mm x 38mm
  • Weight  370g
  • Operating Temperature 0 to 40C
  • Storage Temperature -20 to 70C
  • C8 non-polarized power cord

Display

  • Backlit LCD, 38mm H x 63mm W
  • White backlight, either on or off

Modes

  • Constant Voltage (CV) - this is the normal mode of operation
  • Constant Current (CC) - not a true constant current mode, basically means that supply is in current limit
  • USB Charging - voltage fixed to 5.1V, current can be set 0-3.75A (defaults to 2.5A)

Configuration

  • Set Output Voltage
  • Set Output Current Limit
  • Store 1-5 voltage/current value pairs
  • Recall 1-5 voltage/current value pairs

Calibration

  • Voltage calibration against external reference voltmeter at 5V and 30V
  • Current calibration against external reference current meter at 0.5A and 2.75A with 5ohm load
  • Recommended annual calibration frequency

Nice demonstration video of the power supply, it seems reasonably user friendly.

    Kind regards.
