[Road Test] TDK Lambda LS505 Review

espanholito
espanholito over 15 years ago

I have received my TDK Lambda LS505 power suply today. Against what i expexted, I received 2 Lambda LS505, which I don't my at all.

Before starting this review, I would like to thanks GardenState, for this opportunity.

Has a first impression, this this a normal 5v power suply, it has 3 contacts for the power line (L,N,E), and another 2 contacts for the DC suply.

On the right it also as a little screw to ajust the DC voltage, between 4V and 6V.

I used an oscilloscope to acquire the voltage levels at the DC suply, which you can see in this post.

Overall, it is a simple and low-cost 5V DC power supply, with a good efficiency (80%).

How did you fnd the quality and reliability Marcos?

I talked to the people at TDK Lambda about this product, and their selling point was that it was priced to compete with cheap power supplies coming out the far east, but at a similar quality to other TDK Lambda equipment.

I think this power supply has a good quality, I have seen some that are more expensive and have a higher price.

In order to have a very good quality I think it could have a stronger "bee" metal sheet. I know that it isn´t designed to be holding heavy components, but you can easily deform it.

At this point I haven't yet had the opportunity to make a load test, in order to see how the DC signal is stable, but I will try to do it in the next days.

I took also some photos, which you can see in the attached files.

I saw a tiping error, on my previous post:

" I have seen some that are more expensive and have a higher price."

What I wanted to say is that I have tried others more expensives, and with worst quality.

    sorry.

    Hi,

No need to apologize! Thank you very much for reviewing the product. If you could tell the group about the results of the load test it would be really helpful,

    Thanks again,

    Ally

After some days working with this TDK LS505, I have nothing begative to point by now.

Yesterday I have provoqued a short-circuit on a breadboard with some 5V components in it, none got broked (Luky).

So if you see the green LED flashing slowly, simple turn off the cable.

As my TDK is a 5V 10A power supply, I haven´t yet menaged to make a decent load test. Until now, I'm using it with about 300mA. With this load it supply has no voltage drop.

I have also read the Evan Jones Road Test Review on TDK  LS10024LS10024http://www.element-14.com/community/groups/roadtest/blog/2010/05/20/tdk-24-ls10024) and i agree with all the comments made.
