Is the new Arduino Mega worth it?

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 13 years ago

I have the old Arduino Mega 2560, and I was wondering if getting the new one is worth it, or if it was like the swich between the arduino uno r2 and r3.

I do a lot in robotics and I wanted to know if I should buy the new mega.

Thank you.

    Thank you all, I have looked into the new Mega, and with my new programs, I will need the more memory and processing power. Thank you.

    But that doesn't address the question of whether it's "worth it".

    Whether it's "worth it" is a value judgement - and the OP has given no criteria by which to judge that value!

    We have no idea what value (if any) the extra memory has to the OP;

    We have no idea what cost the "getting used to" represents to the OP...

    Since nobody other than you knows what is & is not important to you (you have not given any details), only you can answer this!

    We have no criteria by which to judge the "worth" to you.

    If you are not suffering any restrictions due to limitations of what you already have, then it's not worth it.

    If you are suffering restrictions, then a look at the specifications should tell you whether the Mega 2560 holds any benefits for you.
