WE decided to get 2 more units because there were a lot of good applications. So, the roadtesters have been notified.

Leonardo is based on 32u4 which means that is a virtual COM port as in the previous version of the Lattepanda Delta. It is a USB connection - you just imagine it is a Arduino Leonardo connected to a USB…

Another big surprise & point of interest - the first app installed by me to the LattePanda3Delta was Google Chrome, to have the LP3 web browser match my laptop. I was going to do some latency observations…

    srutledge  - Greetings. I received the LattePanda 3 Delta 864, DFR0981   https://www.newark.com/dfrobot/dfr0981/lattepanda-3-delta-board-2ghz/dp/31AK8093?ost=dfr0981.

It is love at first site. The LattePanda3 has been powered, setup, and apps being downloaded for performing the specific Road Tests.

DFR0981 is running W10 without any indication it is less than a licensed W10 version. Will there be a surprise expiration warning in 90 days or is this SBC good for life running W10 ?

It should be good for the length of life of Windows 10 where it comes with a license.

Thanks Chris - In moving forward installing & setting up apps on the LattePanda 3 Delta, I banged into the license activation limitation while setting up an external USB sound card, see the screen capture of Settings/Sound message. I'm not to the point of knowing if it causes an operational problem yet to my project.

After digging more into the W10 activation topic should I choose to upgrade to solve the warning message, the Latte Panda 3 Delta W10 activation screen gave a dark foreboding message in the SETTINGS/Activation screen.

Clicking Troubleshoot, the final solution recommended is to contact my system administrator.

Referring still to the SETTINGS/Activation screen capture, when CHANGE PRODUCT KEY is selected , a pop up says to find the product key provided by the vendor. It doesnt like all those XXXXXXXs in the product key seen and hits a brick wall.

Should LattePanda be contacted for more followup info, or is this where the product road forks and I need to deal with Microsoft directly to buy W10 pro ( on Holiday Sales for $35 rapidly shrinking USD )

The RoadTest was for a non-W10 licensed version ... those that are licensed have a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) sticker with the key in the box.

As far as I can tell, you will have to fork out if you want to use W10 on it ... personally with my own previous-gen non-RoadTest unit, I went right to Ubuntu ...

Unfortunately, as Gough Lui quoted from the RoadTest page, the boards we were able to acquire for the RoadTest do not come with a Windows 10 license. This would have to be acquired by yourself or try using Linux on the device.

Sure, thank you. I appreciate all the advice. I'd never had acquired a PC without a license, so this process is new to me. I hope my posts didnt sound whiney, that wasnt my intent. Rewording,  I was wondering if I just need to go direct to Microsoft online get a license key, type that in, and everything is good , without having to reload W10 on the Panda. Im trying to avoid making a mess :-)

I actually had previously tried this same project setup on Linux with Raspberry Pi 4 on a  Road Test and an old PC that was converted to run Linux Mint. ......which makes this a good comparative test :-)  One app in particular is an older Windows program that just wouldnt cooperate with Linux and Wine.
