The Proper Place to Get Help on a Roadtest

rscasny
rscasny over 2 years ago

Today, I contacted a roadtester about a missing review.

He mentioned his difficulty with the site, which e14's development team has worked sometimes throughout the night to correct the problems. We try our best to serve you, the members.

The roadtester also told me the following:

"During the Consumer Electronic Show (CES), I met [name of roadtest sponsor] and they were not cooperating with my activities and I stopped doing the roadtest or participating in any of element14 contests."

This statement made me pause and reflect.

I would not recommend seeking technical help from tradeshow representatives. Tech support is probably not their main role. And it's likely they do not know the product as well as the official channels of the tech support department.

To get help on a roadtest, I would recommend that:

  • a roadtester leave a comment on the roadtest page describing the problem. This gives community members a chance to offer some help.
  • message me at rscasny. If I cannot help you or get a member to offer some help, I will contact the sponsor and get the right person to help you.
  • posting to Feedback and Support , especially if it's a problem with the community site

Please, give me a chance to help you.

Sincerely,

Randall Scasny

I do monthly audits of roadtest review completions. These are reported to the sponsor during our regular reporting.

Also, everyone here is super helpful, I think together we can solve any problem that a roadtester could have. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to participate in the roadtests and in this amazing community!

Sometimes doing a roadtest can be difficult due to some valid reason or difficulty in product get to work properly.

The best thing one can do is that nowadays every product vendor has forum or some email available for asking technical questions. My answer is not to lose hope that product will not work. It works but takes time.

For me the recent example was of Thingy:53 Roadtest where it was difficult to program the board using available options then I used their forum to ask question and my query got resolved.

I accept the fact that few stuffs are really not good documented or even wrong but it works at the end.!! Isn't that cool?

As element14 Community staff we also have some direct contact with suppliers - if they're not already directly on the element14 Community and post in their respective Manufacturers group, and can often escalate problems adequately - especially as some suppliers will not acknowledge you have the product if it's either a pre-release product, or if you don't have a trade account / receipt / warranty directly with them.

I'm curious RS, did the candidate come to you with not having sufficient resources to complete the RoadTest or did you have to search them out when they failed to meet the deadline?
