Can I state a preference when applying for a roadtest?

obones
obones over 2 years ago

Hello,

Thanks to the various polls held in this forum, we can now have a sense of the roadtests to come and that's quite nice.

For instance, I see the ADALM2000 roadtest being opened for applications and I know I could put it to good use and as such am preparing an application for it. But in the meantime, I have a feeling that the ADALM-PLUTO roadtest is just around the corner and that one is even more in sync with my current skill-set. As I only have enough time for one roadtest at a time, and because I also think it unlikely to be selected for both roadtests in the same time frame (if only for fairness to other applicants), I would like to maximize my chances to be selected for the PLUTO roadtest.

As a result, what one should do when multiple roadtests are of interest, one with more appeal than the other? Is it acceptable to say in the application "I want to do it, but if other roadtest comes on later in the year, I'd prefer that other one"?

Thanks for any opinions.

You should apply to both roadtests. If I see a member has applied to two enrolling roadtests, I will contact the member to ask them what their preference is. I try to accommodate the applicants as much…

We do have some of the PLUTO for a RoadTest though, and it'll be launched after the current one has ended.

If you have a strong preference, you should wait.

I like this approach. It is the adage, apply on the job and let them screen you out, rather than I don't think I am qualified so I won't apply.

I'm always concerned pitching applications on a number of RoadTest can be perceived as you are just applying in the hope you get the free stuff.

Everyone loves free stuff! And the details in the application and a quick message or two is really the decider.
